Sooo, I tried my first winter outdoor shoot the other day! 🥶 It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for so long, and here’s what I learned: you really need to be prepared—and fast! 😂
I was at my parents’ place, so it was a pretty spontaneous shoot. My subject were these little pies my mom made. Taller subjects would have worked better, but this is what I had.
Shooting in the snow on a sunny day was quite a challenge! Managing the harsh light and keeping my footprints out of the frame without freezing to death, that was pretty different from studio shoot…😅 Next time, I’m definitely filming some bts footage of the chaos…
Now, here’s the thing: I always preach about planning your shoots, and this experience really drove that home. I wasn’t fully prepared, and honestly, I know the results could’ve been better if I’d taken the time to plan it out.

Hey, nice to meet you! 😃 I wanna start this year by welcoming the new people here and taking a second to introduce myself!

I realized I don't think I have ever really done that on this account. I’m actually a very private person (INFP if you know anything about Myers-Briggs personality types haha), so sharing stuff about me doesn’t come very naturally. But although this is a small community for Instagram, we are now more than 500 people, (THANK YOU!!🎉) and it’s pretty big when you think about it in real life, so I feel like I kinda owe you this!

🍁I’m Anne-Marie. I’m a French Canadian living in Quebec City. I’m 31 years old, and the things I love the most in life are traveling, cooking, and photography.
I’ve been traveling quite a lot during my twenties, backpacking my way through America and Europe. 💛

🌏15 countries later, I met my boyfriend in England and spent almost a year with him in his home country, the Netherlands. We have been back in Quebec for over 2 years now, and we don’t really know what’s next since we are still waiting for his visa to be approved. Let’s call that an uncertain, exciting life that keeps me awake at night sometimes though 😂

📸Photography has been a part of my life for officially 2 years now! It has actually become quite an obsession from the moment I discovered it.

I know a lot of people think it takes years to achieve beautiful photos and start working with clients, but I got my first client after only 5 months of learning photography. And I was learning it only in my spare time since I obviously had a job and just life going on!

👀I’m developing something very special at the moment, a way for you to improve by following very specific processes, and I believe this would have been a game-changer for me if I had had that from the start! Like I could have improved even faster!

& If there’s one thing I wish for you above all else this year, it’s the time and space to create. I hope you find moments to express your creativity, and if you haven’t yet discovered your creative path, I hope this is the year you find it.

Something you might not know about me is that I used to think I wasn’t creative, and that maybe I just wasn’t meant to make art. (The truth is, I kept brushing off that inner voice telling me just how much I needed to create. 😂) I felt like everyone around me had found their creative spark except me. I worked in agriculture, management, massage therapy—all kind of things that didn’t feel like me. And after almost 30 years on this planet, I finally found photography. And for the first time in my life, I felt aligned. It’s an incredible feeling, and whatever your journey looks like, I hope you find that same sense of alignment and joy. 💛

And if you have recently discovered food photography, well I’m here to connect and my goal is to help you take your skills to the next level fast! I truly believe that when you find something you love, you can improve incredibly fast, especially with the right guidance!

With this new year, a new chapter begins, and I’m thrilled to share that something exciting is on the horizon. Over the past year, I’ve been working super hard to bring a project to life for you, and it’s almost ready to come your way, so keep an eye open!
